You are beautiful.....in a mask or out.

I love music. I listen to it as much as I can. I used to listen to it on my way to work in the car, I'd listen to it in my hotel layover room and of course when I hit the gym. (Wait, what's a gym?)
Certain songs would affect me differently. Some would get me all psyched up to got to work like Lizzo's "Juice", while others would calm me down after a particularly hard day such as "Hold On" by Wilson Phillips.

And then there were the ones that just make you move. You know those songs. They are the ones that you dance to when no one is looking and you REALLY let your self go wild. For me, there are several options for that kind of song but today it was "Get Outta My Way" by Kylie Minogue.

And of course, there are the songs that make you think...either through reflection or introspection. Today that song was "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera.

When I got on my exercise bike, (thank god we bought one before they tripled in price) I put on iTunes and thought, "What the hell...surprise me."
The first song that came on was "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera. I found myself slowly singing...then swaying to the music and really getting into the lyrics as I realized that no matter what. I am beautiful....no matter what they say. The first two verses really got me.

Don't look at me
Every day is so wonderful
Then suddenly
It's hard to breathe
Now and then I get insecure
From all the pain
I'm so ashamed
I am beautiful
No matter what they say
Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful
In every single way
Yes words can't bring me down
oh no
So don't you bring me down

and as my mind wandered I had an idea for a video/clip/uTube.I probably couldn't get away with doing it as I'm sure there are tons of licensing and fees etc, but I realized there are so many beautiful people out there who we cant see right now. People we may have taken for granted would always be there in our lives to hold and touch and laugh and cry with.

I thought....we need to see each other, as we go through this. (It's part of the reason I started writing again). Then I started to envision small video clips (maybe this thing called tik tok? kids these days lol.) of people in their homes standing there in a portrait type style.....with masks off, solemn at first then smiling. A simple smile. Evidence of joy and of hope.

Imagine adults and children, people of all sorts and sizes, all those beautiful faces smiling to the lyrics of Extina blowing us away by telling us we're beautiful.....
But to make it "real"....the end would have to have a child smile...then put there mask on and skip away down the hall. yup...Reality folks. Sucks but there it is.
Social distancing is working here in NY. Slow and steady wins the race. Keep at it my fellow Americans....we will watch this virus wither and die eventually....but until then...find your song. Sing it....dance to it.....dance like no one is watching and, don't forget to smile.
